The Problem??
In most of the developing countries we see the scenario on construction site as well as in farms; the workers carry the loads on their heads. This is happening since a long time,still in the 21st century!! have we ever thought about why should they carry loads on heads???
In spite of rapid change in technology there is not a single machine or device in the market which reduces their drudgery but not their work. Vajra (vessel desk) has the same vision to reduce their drudgery but not to remove their job. The simplicity of the device intends to reduce the cost of device as much as possible.
Vajra is a simple device which is designed with keeping in mind the ergonomic and gender issues for work drudgery, it distributes the load of worker which he carries on his head to his shoulders with the help of vertical support assembly .We are familiar with a normal phenomenon that if a person takes load on his head will be more tedious than if it is distributed on his shoulders. It provides a great relief to him in moving carrying and lifting load from one place to other. Vajra does this by distributing load from head to shoulders. Also vajra is a multipurpose and multitasking device which can be used for both lifting and moving objects. It can be used by construction workers farmers or workers of market yards etc.
It’s made up of a two section upper and lower part. Lower part is fitted to the body with the help of flexible belts and looks like a bullet proof jacket. It has slots provided in it so that an upper part of vajra can be fitted and removed as par requirement.
The upper part can be described with two versions. One is a flat elliptical shaped base and another one is lifter assembly for lifting the objects. Both of these can be easily hand attached and removed to lower part.
Who will this help Rise?
If
we talk only about India The Indian farming employs 225 million workforce to
cover more than 140 million hectares of total cultivated land. In spite of
rapid farm mechanization (e.g. 149 million farm machinery) the vast resource
poor family farming has primary dependence on traditional work methods. And
they are still doing the works traditionally. The work drudgery, traumatic accidents
and injuries are the major concerns to examine the options for ergonomics
intervention and betterment of work in crop production activity.
Most of the work drudgery at construction site is done through head. Objects are moved by keeping them on head. 70% population of India lives in villages and most of them are dependent on actual working in farm fields. nearly 8 million construction workers are employed in India for building homes.This is only a case from India. If we look to the developing countrys in South Africa,Asia,Latin America we will find the same scenario.these all people needs change in their hard tedious work drudgery. VAJRA(Vessel desk) will definitely help them to rise them and help them for dignity and better work environment.
How will this help the Rise?
VAJRA helps them to reduce the work drudgery by distributing the load on head to shoulders. vajra is the first device which is designed and developed for reducing the work drudgery. also it is a multipurpose and multitasking which can be used for object lifting and moving. its initial prototype has been tried and tested in real working site and its been proved itself to be a perfect design. vajra also increased the working efficiency,protects head from sun light or rain.
Milestones-
Now the initial prototype of vajra has been tried and tested and proven itself perfect for workers. we have got incubation at GOA and are now aiming to make its final product and within 2 months. we target to reach the all over India. we want VAJRA to be used by any of India's worker to help them reducing the drudgery and also improving their efficiency. also vajra can be used in any other country then we will try to reach the workers there. vajra will always be in the service of human kind.
Details of VAJRA(Vessel desk)-
VAJRA
is designed with two types of designs. One with four vertical pipes and another
with a support directly on the shoulders.
- FIRST DESIGN
This
is design with four vertical pipes. The main body of device is made of four
vertical pipes as shown in above first fig. and next fig is of device with flat
desk attached on its collars. The main body can be weared in body like safety
suit and flat desk can be fitted into the collars. The next images show the
working prototype of vajra.
- SECOND DESIGN
This design is works same as of first but a little modification in the main body assembly.
